Data · Spanish power system
Spain electricity market data
A combined view of wholesale price, electricity demand and the technologies serving the system.
How it is organised
From day-ahead scheduling to real-time balancing
The electricity system is organised in layers. Each market corrects or completes the previous schedule before physical delivery.
Day-ahead market · 12:00 CET gate closure, D-1
Sets prices and energy for the following day’s periods by matching supply and demand.
European intraday auctions · IDA1, IDA2 and IDA3
Adjust the schedule after day-ahead. Current gate closures are 15:00 on D, 22:00 on D and 10:00 on D+1 respectively.
Continuous intraday market · up to one hour before delivery
Allows continuous adjustments, subject to cross-border capacity and the trading window for each period.
Balancing · capacity and activated energy
Residual deviations are corrected through balancing services, separating available reserve from the energy ultimately activated.

How to read the market
The day-ahead price is a wholesale signal in EUR/MWh. It should be read with demand, availability and generation mix; it is not a retail electricity bill.
